How the score works

Kingshot sells most of its materials in rotating packs at fixed price tiers, and the $4.99 version of those packs sets the going rate. 36 Forgehammers cost $4.99 in the weekly deal, so 18 Forgehammers inside some other pack are worth about $2.50. The calculator does that for every line you enter, adds the lines up and divides by the price. A score of 100% means the pack gives you the standard amount for your money.

I started from the two pack sites players use most. kingshotpacks.com prices every item in gems, including bread and VIP XP, which pushes almost every pack far above what a plain gem top-up gives and makes them all look like bargains. Kingshot Scout compares packs with baseline packs and ignores the filler, which I find the more useful view, so this tool follows it. Where the gem values of the first site reproduce the baseline packs of the second within 5%, I treat the rate as confirmed. That holds for the governor charm materials, the governor gear materials and four of the Masters materials. Everything else comes from Scout's baselines alone and is marked as such in the table below.

Three packs worked through

The Hope Market pack is the instructive one. It holds the same three materials as the Master's Collection and gives 20% less of them for the same price. The benefits card scores well mostly through its gems: the 5,000 gems alone are what a $9.99 top-up would give you, and the gear materials come on top.

Four questions before you pay

A high score only says the pack is cheap for what it holds. Whether you should buy it depends on your account, and these four questions, adapted from KingshotPro's pack guide, sort that out faster than any number.

• Is this item what holds you back today? Speedups are worth nothing while your queue is idle for lack of resources, and the other way round.
• Would you buy it for the main item alone? Most packs carry one or two materials that matter. Score the pack with only those lines and see if it still holds up.
• Is an event running that scores it? The same Forgehammers bought during a gear-scoring window also earn event points. The event guides list what each event counts.
• Can you buy it again? A one-time pack at 250% is a single good purchase. A weekly card at 180% is worth more over a season.
