Truegold Dust is the refined currency behind Truegold research and upgrades, and it is the first thing you should buy in the Trial Shop.

Hoard it

Truegold Dust is the refined form of Truegold, and it has one job that nothing else can do: it funds the Truegold research nodes in the Academy. Those nodes are permanent stat research, which puts Dust in a different class from gear materials. A gear piece is tied to a hero who may fall out of your march when the next generation arrives. Research applies to every march you will ever send.

That permanence is why Dust is the first line I check in the Trial Shop. Mystic Trial pays Trial Crystals every week, the shop rotates, and Dust is the line that turns those crystals into something you never lose.

It also shows up in KvK reward tiers and event shops, but the Trial Shop is the steady source, and how you spend Trial Crystals decides how much Dust you end up with over a season.

When to spend it, by server age

Early game

Bank your Trial Crystals until Dust rotates in. Early on it is tempting to spend them on whatever is available, and that is how players arrive at their first research phase with an empty Dust balance.

Mid game

Around the first Hall of Governors research phase, Dust starts to matter. Time the research so the finishing step happens inside the window, and let the Dust you have saved cover it. Dust before Mithril, still.

Late game

Late game Truegold research is one of the few power sources that keeps scaling, and Dust is the bottleneck for all of it. Every Trial Shop rotation with Dust in it gets bought out, and KvK reward tiers that pay Dust are worth pushing for on their own.
