Kingdom of Power

Kingshot Kingdom of Power Guide: Prep, Save List and Castle Battle

Kingdom versus Kingdom (KvK), also known as the Kingdom of Power, is a month-long mega-event where servers clash for the High King title, exclusive city skins, and Mythic Hero shards. In this guide I walk you through every phase the way our kingdom plays it, because success here is discipline and hoarding far more than raw power.

What to save for Kingdom of Power

Start hoarding two weeks out. These are the materials the preparation phase scores directly, so every one you spend early is points you hand to somebody else. Each entry links to the exact sources and amounts.

Item Why it matters here
Forgehammer item icon Forgehammer Hoard it. Forgehammers are the top-priority buy in most shops, and they score in events that Mithril does not.
Hero Shard item icon Hero Shard Hoard them. Shards spent on a hero that a newer generation replaces are simply gone.
Mithril item icon Mithril Hoard it. Mithril is the single easiest resource to waste, because spreading it across pieces feels like progress and produces almost none.
Speedups item icon Speedups Hoard them. This is the most repeated regret on the Kingshot subreddit, and the fix costs nothing but patience.
True Gold item icon True Gold Hoard it. True Gold is the hardest wall in the mid game and there is no fast way around it.
Truegold Dust item icon Truegold Dust Hoard it. Dust is the Trial Shop's highest-value line and it converts directly into permanent stat research.

Pre-KvK: The Preparation Mindset

A fortified Kingshot keep, the kind of stronghold a kingdom defends going into Kingdom of Power

Success in KvK is decided two weeks before the event even begins.

The "Hoarding" Timeline

  • 2–3 Weeks Before: Stop using Speedups, Mythic Shards, Forge Hammers, and Widgets. Hoarding these is the only way to hit the top ranking rewards.
  • Matchmaking Day: Leaders must initiate Diplomacy. Successful kingdoms often agree on "Rules of Engagement" (e.g., no hitting resource tiles) to prevent players from quitting the game.
  • Recon: Create a "scout" character in the opponent's kingdom to check their hive locations and identify their strongest "whales."

Kingdom Behavior & Etiquette

  • Unity is Power: Resolve all internal civil wars. A kingdom that fights itself will be easily "zeroed" by the enemy.
  • Respect the Spenders: Do not target high-spending players in your own kingdom. They are your primary defense; if they leave, the server loses its protection.
  • Kingdom-Wide NAP: Most servers implement a "No Aggression Pact" leading up to KvK to allow everyone to gather resources safely.

Phase 1: Matchmaking (2 Days)

The system pairs kingdoms based on the total troop power of the top 100 governors.

  • Day 1: The system assesses power.
  • Day 2: The opponent is revealed. Use this day to finalize your battle plans and scouting.

Phase 2: Preparation (6 Days)

This phase is a points race. The winning kingdom receives double rewards and a +20% Healing Speed buff for the upcoming war.

Day Focus Task Pro Tip
1 Construction & Intel Save your Intel missions from the night before to finish them at reset.
2 Hero Shards & Gathering Time your marches so they return with full Level 5+ tiles 10 mins after reset.
3 Pets & Hero Roulette Only use Taming Marks and Hero Shards on this day for maximum points.
4 Gear & Training "Pre-load" your longest troop trainings days in advance and collect them today.
5 Power Boost A "catch-all" day. Use every remaining resource to push for the Top 100 rank.
6 Results Winners are announced. Gear up for the Battle Phase.

Phase 3: Battle Phase (The War)

The borders open at 10:00 UTC and close at 22:00 UTC. The actual Castle Battle occurs from 12:00 to 18:00 UTC.

The castle everyone is fighting over, mid-siege: a Defend Phase timer ticking down and the alliance currently holding it named right on the map. Whoever controls this building when the war ends crowns the High King.

The Rules of Combat

  • The 3-Level Rule: You can only attack/be attacked by cities within 3 levels of your Town Center.
  • Teleports: You get 3 free cross-kingdom teleports. Use them strategically to join rallies or escape danger.
  • The High King: If the attacking kingdom captures the enemy King's Castle, their leader becomes High King of both servers, gaining the power to hand out global buffs and penalties.

Advanced Combat Tactics

  • Rallying: Never solo-attack a strong city. Use Rallies to overwhelm the defender and fill their infirmary.
  • The Infirmary Trap: Once a player's infirmary is full, every troop they lose is a permanent death. Always check your infirmary and heal in small batches.
  • Reinforcement: In the Castle Battle, keep a constant stream of fresh marches moving into the castle to replace wounded troops.

Phase 4: Field Triage & Recovery

After the war ends, you have a window to revive your fallen troops.

  • Field Triage: Revive 30% to 90% of troops lost in city attacks or field battles. Use Medical Satchels or ask for Alliance Assists.
  • Rescue Orders: You have 20 orders to help allies. Prioritize helping your active fighters first.
  • Enlistment Office: Troops lost in the Castle Battle (70% return) go here. You recover them over time using Enlistment Petitions.

This is the report Field Triage is fixing: Injured 117,594 and Lightly Injured 218,379 on the winning side alone, out of a squad of 1,097,732. Zero permanent Losses, because the infirmary caught every one of them.

Summary: The KvK "Big Don'ts"

  • DON'T fight with a full infirmary. Permanent troop loss is the fastest way to ruin your account.
  • DON'T stay unshielded. If you aren't active during the 10:00–22:00 UTC window, bubble up.
  • DON'T waste Kingdom Coins. Save them for Mythic Hero Shards or Legendary Gear Materials in the KvK Shop.
  • DON'T ignore your alliance. KvK is won by coordination, not solo play. Follow your leader's markers and rally calls.

What you actually win

Three separate reward streams run at once, and they pay out on different terms. Understanding which is which stops you from chasing the wrong one.

Kingdom rewards

The kingdom that wins the preparation phase takes double rewards and carries a +20% Healing Speed buff into the war. That buff decides how fast both sides can recycle troops through the infirmary, which matters more over six hours of castle fighting than any single rally does. The kingdom that holds the castle at the end takes the High King title and the city skins that come with it.

Personal ranking rewards

Your own score during the preparation phase is ranked separately from the kingdom result. This is the part a free-to-play account controls completely, and it is why the save list at the top of this page matters. A disciplined hoarder places in the personal rankings even when the kingdom loses the phase.

The KvK Shop

Kingdom Coins earned during the event buy from a shop that only opens around it. The two purchases worth planning for are Mythic Hero Shards and Legendary Gear Materials, because both are otherwise gated behind paid packs or long grinds. Everything else in there competes with sources you already have, so coins spent elsewhere are usually coins wasted.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Kingdom of Power last in Kingshot?

Roughly a month end to end. Matchmaking runs two days, the preparation phase six, then the battle phase opens and the kingdoms fight for the castle. Recovery afterwards takes as long as your infirmaries need. The parts you can plan for are the two weeks before matchmaking, because that is when hoarding decides your score.

What should I save for Kingdom of Power?

Speedups of every type, Mithril, Forgehammers, Truegold Dust, True Gold and Hero Shards. Those are the materials the preparation phase scores directly, so spending them a day early costs you the points. The save list further up this page is generated from the item database and links to exact sources and amounts for each one.

When do the borders open during the battle phase?

Borders open at 10:00 UTC and close at 22:00 UTC. The Castle Battle itself runs from 12:00 to 18:00 UTC. Everything outside that window is positioning, healing and rebuilding.

Does the preparation phase actually matter if my kingdom loses it?

Yes, twice over. The winning kingdom takes double rewards and a 20% Healing Speed buff into the war, which changes how fast both sides can recycle troops. Your personal ranking rewards are also scored individually, so a strong preparation is worth points even when the kingdom result goes the other way.

Which day of the preparation phase should I spend my speedups?

Whichever day scores the category you have the most of. Construction speedups belong on day 1, hero shards and gathering on day 2, taming marks and pet material on day 3, gear and training on day 4. Day 5 is the catch-all where everything left over goes.

Is Kingdom of Power worth it for a free-to-play account?

Yes, because the scoring rewards discipline more than spending. A free account that hoards for two weeks and dumps everything on the matching day will outscore a spender who uses materials as they arrive. The ceiling is lower, the floor is entirely in your control.
