Kingshot Speedups

Speedups come in four flavours, Construction, Research, Training and Healing, and every one of them is worth more inside an event window than outside one.

Hoard it

Speedups are the one item every player has an opinion about, and the opinion is usually regret. Construction, Research, Training and Healing speedups all do the same thing, they finish a timer early, and the game hands them out constantly. The temptation to use them the moment a timer annoys you is real, and it costs more than any other habit in Kingshot.

The reason is scoring. Hall of Governors, Kingdom of Power, Plan Your City and Alliance Mobilization all award points for time saved with speedups, and the points only count during the matching phase. The same hundred hours of Construction speedups spent on a random Tuesday buy you a building. Spent on the construction day, they buy you the building plus a whole reward track.

So the four types stay banked, each in its own pile, and they come out only for the phase that scores them.

Save it or spend it?

Hoard them. This is the most repeated regret on the Kingshot subreddit, and the fix costs nothing but patience.

How much you need

Keep each type banked separately in your head. Hall of Governors scores them in different phases, so a pile of Construction speedups does nothing for the research day.

When to spend it, by server age

Early game

The first week is the one time it is fine to use some speedups freely, because getting your Town Center up quickly raises income and unlocks the events that will score speedups later. Even then, keep a reserve and start hoarding from day four or five.

Mid game

From the first Hall of Governors on, every speedup type has a day. Queue a long build or research before the window opens, then apply speedups once scoring starts. Training speedups go into big troop batches on the training day, Healing speedups wait for KvK.

Late game

Late game the piles are large and the scoring windows are the whole plan. Saving so hard that your Town Center falls behind your kingdom is the one way to overdo it, so check that your building level keeps pace with the players you fight.

Tips worth knowing

Start a long upgrade before the event window opens, then apply speedups once scoring starts. The points land when you finish, not when you begin.
Healing speedups are the quiet one. During KvK, the side that gets troops back into the field first usually wins the next fight.
Batch healing rather than healing troop by troop.

Mistakes people make

Burning speedups the moment they arrive because a timer is annoying.
Using the wrong type in the wrong phase and scoring nothing.
Saving so hard that your Town Center falls behind the rest of your kingdom.
