Gear

Kingshot Mithril

Mithril is the upgrade material for Mythic hero gear, and it has the highest power ceiling of any gear material in Kingshot.

Hoard it

Mythic hero gear is the last big power layer a hero gets, and Mithril is the only material that moves it. Every other stat source on a hero, levels, skills, ascension stars, eventually caps or slows down. Gear upgrades keep paying past that point, which is why the same handful of Mithril can be the difference between winning and losing an open-field fight against a player with the same troop count.

The catch is that Mithril arrives in small amounts from a lot of directions. A few from the Trial Shop, a few from an event shop, a stack from a KvK reward tier. Each small pile tempts you to put it somewhere immediately, and each small upgrade feels like progress. It is not. A gear piece only unlocks its stat bonus when the upgrade step completes, so half-finished upgrades on three pieces give you less than one finished upgrade on one piece.

I treat Mithril the way I treat speedups: it goes into a mental vault, and it comes out for one piece, in one order, inside an event window that scores it. Everything below follows from that rule.

Save it or spend it?

Hoard it. Mithril is the single easiest resource to waste, because spreading it across pieces feels like progress and produces almost none.

Hold it for:

  • Kingdom of Power (KvK), where gear power decides open-field fights
  • Hall of Governors gear-scoring phases
  • Any event that scores hero gear upgrades directly

Where to get Mithril

  • Trial Shop, bought with Trial Crystals from Mystic Trial
  • Event shops during Swordland Showdown and Viking Vengeance
  • Kingdom of Power (KvK) milestone rewards
  • Alliance Championship and Alliance Brawl reward tiers
  • Paid gear packs, which is where most of the supply sits

What to spend it on

  • Mythic hero gear upgrades, one piece at a time
  • Pushing a single piece to Red quality rather than spreading it thin

How much you need

Enough for one full piece before you start it. Beginning an upgrade you cannot finish leaves the stat bonus locked until you do.

When to spend it, by server age

Early game

In the first weeks you will barely see Mithril, and the little you get should stay untouched. Your heroes are still cycling as new generations unlock, and gear upgraded on a hero you bench in week three is gear you paid for twice. Learn the sources, buy Truegold Dust ahead of Mithril in the Trial Shop, and let the pile grow.

Mid game

Once your main march is settled, usually around the second or third generation on your server, Mithril becomes the best thing you can hold for Kingdom of Power. Pick the first piece in the order below, wait for a Hall of Governors gear phase or a KvK window, and spend the whole pile on that one piece in one sitting.

Late game

Late game is where Mithril discipline shows. Players who spread it thin have a wall of yellow gear on six heroes and lose fights to players with three Red pieces on one march. By now your Trial Crystals should go to Mithril whenever Dust is already covered, and every event shop with Mithril in it gets bought out before anything cosmetic.

Tips worth knowing

  • Follow one order and do not deviate: Infantry Gloves, then Archer Helmet, then Cavalry Helmet. Then go deeper into Red in that same order.
  • In the Trial Shop, Truegold Dust comes first and Mithril second. If Dust has not appeared yet, hold your Trial Crystals rather than settling.
  • Mithril spent on your main march returns power every single fight. Mithril spent on a bench hero returns nothing.

Mistakes people make

  • Spending Mithril on secondary or tertiary gear pieces. This is the most common Mithril mistake in the game and it is close to unrecoverable.
  • Upgrading gear on a hero you are about to replace with a newer generation.
  • Burning Mithril outside an event window when the same spend would have scored points.

Frequently asked questions

Which gear piece should I upgrade first with Mithril?

Infantry Gloves first, then Archer Helmet, then Cavalry Helmet. Finish each step on one piece before touching the next, then repeat the same order deeper into Red quality.

Is Mithril worth buying in the Trial Shop?

Yes, but only after Truegold Dust. Dust converts into permanent research, so it comes first. If Dust is not in the rotation, hold your Trial Crystals rather than spending them on lower lines.

Does Mithril transfer between heroes?

No. Mithril goes into a specific gear piece on a specific hero, and there is no refund. That is why the choice of hero matters more than the choice of piece.

Should I save Mithril or use it?

Hoard it. Mithril is the single easiest resource to waste, because spreading it across pieces feels like progress and produces almost none.

Where do you get Mithril in Kingshot?

Trial Shop, bought with Trial Crystals from Mystic Trial. Event shops during Swordland Showdown and Viking Vengeance. Kingdom of Power (KvK) milestone rewards. Alliance Championship and Alliance Brawl reward tiers. Paid gear packs, which is where most of the supply sits.
