Kingshot Taming Mark

Taming Marks reroll all six of a pet's secondary stats at once, and the mark is spent whether you like the roll or not.

Hoard it

Pet refinement is a reroll. Spend a Taming Mark and all six of your pet's secondary stats roll again, whether you liked the result or not, and the mark is gone. That sounds bad, but there is a ratchet inside it: once a stat has climbed into a higher rarity it can never fall back below that rarity. Over many rolls the floor keeps rising, which is what makes long-term refining worth doing.

It also means each individual mark is close to worthless on its own. One roll is a coin flip. Fifty rolls in a session are progress. And fifty rolls inside a pet scoring event are progress plus points, which is why marks belong in a pile until an event that counts pet progress opens.

The marks come in a Common and an Advanced tier, and the refinement screen tells you which one the current step consumes.

Save it or spend it?

Hoard them. Refinement is a slot machine, and feeding it outside a scoring event wastes both the marks and the points.

When to spend it, by server age

Early game

Your first pets are placeholders you will swap as the Beast Cage unlocks stronger ones, so early marks stay untouched. Learn which pet your main march will use and wait.

Mid game

When your main march has its long-term pet, marks go into refining that pet's secondary stats in long sessions during a pet scoring window. Check whether the step wants Common or Advanced marks before you start.

Late game

Late refinement is about pushing the last stats through the rarity gates on one pet. Marks from the Beast Cage and pet shops all go to that one pet; the rest of your pets never see a mark.

Tips worth knowing

Once a secondary stat climbs into a higher rarity it can never fall back down. That one-way ratchet is what makes long-term refining worth it.
Common and Advanced marks are not interchangeable. Check which tier the refinement consumes before you start.
Refine in a long session during an event rather than a mark here and there.

Mistakes people make

Refining casually between events, which burns the marks for zero event value.
Chasing a perfect roll on a pet that is not attached to your main march.

Can a pet's secondary stat get worse when I refine it?

The value can roll lower, but the rarity tier cannot drop. Once a stat reaches a higher rarity it stays there, which is the reason refining pays off over many rolls.

Are Common and Advanced Taming Marks interchangeable?

No. Each refinement step consumes a specific tier. Check the refinement screen before you start a session.

Which pet should I refine?

The pet that rides with your main march. Refining a pet you never field costs the same marks and returns nothing.
