Conquest Skill Books level the conquest skills that apply when your heroes lead marches on the world map.

Every hero has two kinds of skills. Expedition skills fire when the hero leads a march on the world map or a rally. Conquest skills fire when the hero fights in the Arena. Conquest Skill Books level the conquest side, and their value compounds every time you fight there.
Because the benefit compounds and the event value of holding them is small, books are a use-now item from about day four, once you have a march worth investing in. The decision is which hero, and the answer is the same as for most hero resources: the leads first.
Books come from daily missions, event rewards and alliance activities.

When to spend it, by server age
Early game
From day four, put the books into your first march's lead. Before that you may still be swapping heroes, so wait a few days.
Mid game
Keep feeding the rally lead, then the rest of the main march. Spreading books evenly is the classic mistake; skills only matter on heroes who fight.
Late game
The march is stable and the books go to the same heroes. If you swap in a new generation, its lead gets the books immediately, because the compounding starts the day you level.
