Level it early, stop caring about it later. The skill saves real hours in your first months and almost nothing once builds run on speedups.

With the main march the Gray Wolf contributes nothing in a fight. Its value is the daily construction cut, so it rides along only until a combat pet unlocks, and its level matters for the passive stat bonus rather than the skill.

• On the longest build in the queue, right after you start it.
• Before you log off for the night, so the saved hours run while you sleep.

What it costs to level

Every figure here is counted out of the full level table, so it is the cumulative Pet Food you spend to reach that level, rather than the cost of the single step.

At level 50 the Gray Wolf carries a 5.02% troop attack and defense bonus and 361,440 power. That bonus applies whether the skill is on cooldown or not, which is why a pet you never trigger is still worth levelling.

Pet Food cost and the troop bonus are set by the generation, so two pets of the same generation cost exactly the same to raise. Their power and their skill are what differ.

Where it sits in the chain

The Beast Cage unlocks in waves by server day, and most pets also need the previous one at a set level.

• Becomes available on server day 54, once you have Town Center level 18.

Tips worth knowing

• The cooldown drops as the skill levels, so the first few levels give you more uses per week, not just a bigger cut.
• It only touches construction. A research timer or a training queue ignores it completely.

Mistakes people make

• Firing it on a two hour build. The percentage is worth more on a two day one.
• Pushing it past level 30 while Bison and Lynx are still low. All three feed off the same Pet Food.
