Growth Manuals are the second material for pet advancement, spent together with Nutrient Potions at each ten-level gate. On their own they do nothing, and an advancement step only completes when both piles cover it.

For most players the manuals run out before the potions do, which turns them into the real ceiling on how far the main pet can advance. Budgeting off the smaller pile avoids queuing a step you cannot finish.

Sources are the same as for potions: the Beast Cage, pet event shops and event milestone rewards.

Save it or spend it?

Hoard them, and budget them against your Nutrient Potions rather than separately.

Early game

Hold them. The first advancement gate is close, but the potion and manual spend is worth timing to a pet scoring window even at this stage.

Mid game

Advance the main march's pet inside pet scoring events or Hall of Governors pet phases. Count manuals against potions before you commit to a gate.

Late game

Late gates need large amounts of both materials. When a pet shop offers both, buy manuals first if they are the smaller pile.

Tips worth knowing

Whichever advancement material you have less of is your real ceiling.
