Kingshot Basic Resources

Meat, Wood, Coal and Iron are the foundation of everything you build, and the difference between secured and unsecured resources decides how much of it survives an attack.

Meat, Wood, Coal and Iron are what every building, research and troop batch costs, and the game gives them to you in two forms. Resources you have collected into the city show up in the warehouse total and are what you spend. Resources that arrived as item bundles stay in your inventory until you open them.

The difference matters because of raids. Everything in your city above the warehouse's protected cap can be taken by an attacker. Everything still in your inventory cannot. So the ideal city holds roughly what the warehouse protects, and the rest waits as unopened bundles for the moment you queue the next upgrade.

That is why Basic Resources are a use-now item and also an item you never mass-collect. Spend them as you need them, open bundles for the upgrade in front of you, and keep the exposed pile small.

When to spend it, by server age

Early game

Resources are short and every upgrade wants more. Gather on the world map, collect alliance help and use the bundles as they come. Your city is too small to be a worthwhile raid target yet.

Mid game

Now the warehouse cap is the number to know. Open bundles only for the upgrade you are queuing, keep the collected total near the protected amount, and if you find yourself chronically short, this is when players set up a farm account.

Late game

Late game resource demand is enormous and most of the supply comes from a farm account, event rewards and gathering. Keeping the main city's exposed stock low before KvK matters most, because that is when everyone is looking for targets.

Tips worth knowing

Resources held as items in your inventory cannot be raided. Only what you have already collected into the city is exposed.
Keep collected stock near the protected warehouse cap and leave the rest as items until you need it.
A farm account exists for exactly this reason, and it is the standard answer to chronic resource shortage.

Mistakes people make

Collecting everything into the city at once and becoming a worthwhile raid target.
Buying resources with gems, which is the worst exchange rate available to you.
