Full background story

Can't tell Wee from Woo? Easy fix: whoever's standing next to Wee is Woo, and whoever's standing next to Woo is Wee. Still stuck? Doesn't really matter, honestly, because the two of them are rarely apart long enough for it to come up. You basically never see one without the other. People stopped bothering to treat them as two separate people a long time ago. Twins this close eat together, sleep in the same room, get into the same trouble, and go to war side by side without a second thought.

On a battlefield, that closeness turns into something the enemy dreads. Nobody can get a clean lock on either of them. All the other side ever sees is one nimble cannon sweeping the field, throwing shells from every angle at once, and by the time the smoke clears, both the enemy's formation and the enemy's nerve are in pieces.

Ask Wee about his brother and he won't stop for a while. "Woo's the smartest person alive, easily. Full marks on everything, ever since we were kids. He built this cannon we're running around with, designed it, improved it, all of it himself. Me, I just carry stuff and help out where I can. Woo's just a genius, that's all there is to it." He says all this with Woo standing right next to him, turning steadily redder.

Woo, who barely talks otherwise, turns out to be exactly the same about Wee. "Wee's incredible. Strong, fast, none of that comes easy to me. Brave too, always first to step up when things get dangerous, not like me. And kind, if anyone needs help he's already there before I've even noticed. Honestly, Wee's the best person there is." Whenever he says it, Wee looks over at him with something gentle in his eyes.

"I don't want to be around you anymore!" Nobody remembers which of them said it first, but it happened: Wee and Woo split up, once, for real. Each of them was telling himself the same private lie: he'll have an easier life without me dragging him down.

It didn't go well. Without Wee around, Woo couldn't move half his own equipment, went quiet and useless trying to haggle for supplies, and his experiments stalled out completely. Without Woo, Wee made a mess of fixing his own armor, counted his money on his fingers because he'd never learned to do it any other way, and let his living space fall apart around him.

"I can't live without Wee." "I can't live without Woo." Neither of them remembers deciding it out loud. They just ended up back together, inseparable again, as if the whole thing had never happened.

Best pairings

  • Ava's Defense-shred and damage-taken-up debuffs multiply directly into their large AoE percentages.
  • Charles's Vengeance stun holds enemies in place long enough for High Ground and Incendiaries to connect at full value.
  • Triton's Warfare of Power stacks onto their AoE skills, and his Oath of Power gives Archers the larger health bonus, covering their fragility.
